We are currently talking to several other primary schools in Edinburgh about launching MindLab. If your school isn't listed (MindLab only arrived in Scotland late last year) then please get
in touch. If you are the first to recommend your school, your children will benefit from MindLab free.
When we start in a new school we generally challenge the school to an ancient
mathematical game at assembly and then we zip in and out of classrooms, giving
each child a brain-boosting chance to learn and play a MindLab game. The day
finishes with a parents information session where we teach parents a game too!
We get involved in school fundraisers by organising family games nights which
are fantastic fun, set up "thinking walls" which display the children's work along with some "thinking challenges" for the children, and we support the school in every way that we can.
MindLab is taught in different ways. Some schools run the programme in school
for all or some of the children and use funding to pay for it. This is cheaper
and allows many more children to benefit. Other schools run MindLab as an after-school
programme which parents pay for and this is usually between £40 and £65 per term (the Spring and Summer terms are cheaper because they are shorter). Children are taught every week for an hour straight after-school. Payment can be made by monthly post-dated cheques and this costs no extra.
Families with more than 1 child at MindLab can currently benefit from 15%
off for EACH child. This is valid for termly and monthly payment.
